A Little More

To some students, Reb Beatty’s appearance may at first be a little intimidating. After all, he was an All-American soccer player at Loyola University Maryland and played soccer professionally in Italy for a brief time. But they quickly learn he’s approachable and reasonable, creating a relaxed classroom environment. His students say he has an innate ability to break down complicated accounting and finance concepts in a manner that is relatively easy to understand.

Beatty has taught courses in accounting, finance and statistics at AACC since 2011. He serves on numerous college committees and led the growth of the successful Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. In addition to his work at the college, he uses his expertise to provide services to individuals and small/medium-sized businesses, including financial analysis, financial modeling, tax preparation and planning, general business strategy, and management consulting services.

Before coming to AACC, Beatty ran a successful import-export business he started in Italy after his professional soccer career was derailed by injuries. He then returned to the United States (with the ability to speak Italian fluently and a love of Brunello di Montalcino wine) and worked for two years in public accounting.

Beatty lives in Severna Park, just a mile from campus, and enjoys spending time with his family: his daughters Vittoria Artemisia and Vesta Beatrice, his son Flavius Aetius and his dogs Furia (a Belgian Tervuren) and Phoenix (a Belgian Malinois).
