After graduating college, Courtney Sabol landed a teaching job after moving to Anne Arundel County. Her psychology degree, though, hadn’t prepared her to teach. It wasn’t until she took a few classes at AACC that Sabol was inspired to pursue teaching. Now a former AACC student, Sabol enjoys passing on nuggets of value to the teachers of today – and tomorrow.
Frequent storytelling, playing fun games and references to the ‘80s and ‘90s are just a few of the things you can expect when taking a class with Sabol. She recognizes the importance of being authentic in the classroom and believes it’s essential to teach others about the intentionality that goes into being an educator. With that intentionality, she is known for providing awesome feedback for each of her students.
“I have serious goals for my students to improve, not only their pedagogy, but also their writing skills. So I give them high-quality feedback that is individualized and meaningful,” Sabol said. In return, she has students who are hardworking, open-minded and demand excellence.
Sabol doesn’t just teach our future teachers; she is also one of AACC’s Engagement Coaches. She enjoys helping people discover and live their values.
When not in the classroom, Sabol can be found playing with her kids, practicing mindfulness and goal-setting whenever possible. She enjoys cooking, jewelry making and anything outside.
