In a world where ‘multitasking’ is a buzzword, bookkeepers are expected to focus on one financial situation at a time. That’s right, one task, one glorious task. The training is brief. In just two terms, students who earn the AACC professional bookkeeper certificate gain the knowledge and skills necessary to sit for the Professional Bookkeeper certification examination. The career offers flexibility, with many working from home, in offices or through site visits. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available in a variety of industries, and many bookkeepers can freelance. According to recent BLS data, the median pay for bookkeeping clerks is $45,560 a year, with the highest 10% earning more than $61,980.

Want to be a cruise ship director without the boat? Office managers are the unofficial “captains” of any office ship, keeping everything afloat and everyone happy. The role of an office manager varies, but those who earn AACC’s Business Office Management degree are trained in communications, technology, business, ethics, management, accounting, psychology and economics. The degree requires a time investment of around two years for courses that can be done online, in person, and part or full time. Office managers can be found in any business setting with an office staff large enough to require organization and supervision, so this degree can lead students to an industry or cause you're passionate about.
