Approximately 1,985 students will graduate with 2,381 degrees and certificates* on Thursday, May 27, at the 59th commencement of Anne Arundel Community College.
More than 300 graduates are taking one last loop around campus to be celebrated with the college’s second car parade, “Road to the Future: A Graduation Celebration,” at 10 a.m. in Arnold. The rain date is Thursday, June 3.
All graduates from last summer and fall, as well as this spring, were invited to participate.
Faculty and staff will be stationed throughout the route to cheer and celebrate grads as they pass, and AACC will livestream the event on the school’s YouTube page so family and friends can follow along.
“No matter what it looks like, commencement is a highlight of the academic year,” said Dr. Dawn Lindsay, AACC’s president. Lindsay will be stationed with other officials at the point in the route where students’ names are announced and they receive their diploma jacket. “Our students and what they have accomplished this year is extraordinary. We are grateful for the opportunity to acknowledge their achievements, and excited to celebrate their hard work in a safe and creative way.”
Specific details about timing, route, post-ceremony photo station and help with transportation if a graduate does not have access to a vehicle can be found on the graduation celebration webpage.
*The numbers of graduates, degrees and certificates are unofficial and usually change after all grades and appeals have been finalized.
