New Dean of Distance Education

Anne Arundel Community College has welcomed Megan Myers, Ph.D., as its dean of Distance Education, effective Sept. 18. Myers is leading AACC’s Information and Instructional Technology's (IIT) Innovation + Design + Engagement + Accessibility (IDEA) Lab team and will be located in the college’s new Learning Innovation Center.  

“Through her past work, it's clear Myers values a culture of innovation promoting equitable, accessible and inclusive learner-centered practices,” said Richard C. Kralevich, vice president for Information and Instructional Technology. “She has repeatedly led initiatives that transformed learning and I have confidence she’ll continue her innovative work at AACC.” 

The former Howard Community College associate vice president for Faculty Development and Learning Innovation started in academia as a history instructor and has made pursuing student success and improving the student experience the priority in her career.  

"Really, I come into the world as a learner and a teacher committed to access and equity, and that’s what brought me to distance education,” Myers said. “For many of our students, the ability to have access to education and equitable education involves online courses and programs." 

In overseeingthe college’s distance education and use of instructional technology, Myers said her role is mostly to be a bridge between different parts of the college, between technology and academics and students and faculty. “I want to really make sure we always keep students and online students at the heart of what we’re doing,” she said.
