In May, AACC’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program will celebrate its 25th class of graduates. Thousands of pain-free backs, unfrozen shoulders, mobile ankles and more can be attributed to the more than 500 graduates of the program.
At least a portion of those can be attributed to Amanda Minnitte, who has been in the field since graduating from AACC in 2015. "Seeing people return to what they love to do – that makes me so happy and is so rewarding," she said.
Minnitte said she loves both the work and the program that got her there. “The professors really work with students so they understand the field,” she said. “The faculty is all from such different backgrounds. It really benefits the students.”
The PTA program is a part of the Chesapeake Area Consortium for Higher Education, which includes Anne Arundel Community College, Chesapeake College and the College of Southern Maryland. Students complete courses at AACC, while clinical practice rotations are completed at local service areas when possible.
