AACC recently celebrated the release of the fourth edition of the Journal of Emerging Scholarship, a collection of undergraduate research by AACC students from disciplines across the college including biology, environmental science, psychology and technology. Papers in the journal include:
Faculty mentors include biology Professor Susan Lamont, Ph.D..; architecture and interior design Professor Robert R. Lowe III; Librarian Sophie Reverdy; biology Assistant Professor Jameson Coopman; biology Professor Seth Miller, Ph.D.; engineering Associate Professor Timothy Callinan; biology Assistant Professor Sandra Fox-Moon, Ph.D.; biology Professor Tammy Domanski, Ph.D.; nursing Assistant Professor Daniel Shields; anthropology Assistant Professor Amy Carattini, Ph.D.; biology Instructor Kelly Livernoche; and physical science Professor Jason Barbour, Ph.D.
“Undergraduate research offers a unique journey, a step beyond classes, exams, and even social clubs,” School of Science, Technology and Education Dean Lance Bowen, Ph.D., said during the event. “The rewards are immense: diving into undergraduate research is challenging, exhilarating, and incredibly beneficial, opening doors to future academic adventures and making you a standout candidate when you enter the workforce.”
Students could work with their faculty mentors on existing projects or new topics, but they were intimately involved with the process and the final papers were their own. Each journal article was reviewed by an editorial board made up of AACC faculty and staff.
The journal's cover features a photograph titled "River Water x Late Afternoon," by visual arts student Gabriella Wagner.
A copy of the journal is available upon request.
