As a massage therapist, you'll help people relieve stress and discomfort. 

Massage therapy is rewarding work with a flexible schedule and job opportunities in varied settings. Our well respected, affordable massage therapy program trains students in the manual manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues to enhance function, support healing, relieve pain, promote relaxation and aid in the overall wellness of clients.

The massage therapy program is approved by the Maryland Board of Massage Therapy Examiners and has a 96 percent first-time pass rate on the licensing examination. Our staff is highly qualified, enthusiastic and dedicated to student success.


Career Degrees

AACC offers the following Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees. The state of Maryland refers to the A.A.S. as a career degree, because it's intended to provide you with skills to enter the workforce. In some cases, AACC has entered into transfer agreements that allow these degrees to transfer to select colleges. A list of active agreements may be found on this website. You can also learn more about transferring from AACC to continue your education.

Massage Therapy, A.A.S.

The Massage Therapy Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree is designed for students who want to become licensed massage therapists (LMT) and do not have the 60 college credits required by Maryland board.

The department also offers the following credit certificate.

Massage Therapy

This certificate program is designed for students who want to become a registered massage practitioner (RMP) or those who want to become a licensed massage therapist (LMT) and have previous college credits that meet the Maryland board's requirements.

Job Outlook

Massage therapists offer their services in a variety of locations such as private practice clinics, physicians’ and chiropractors’ offices, rehabilitation clinics, spas, health clubs, fitness centers, nursing homes, hospitals, resorts and cruise ships. They also may enter other fields including nursing, athletic training, personal training or physical therapy.

A Little More: Heather Langley is not only a faculty member at AACC, she’s an alumna of the college. After earning her doctorate in physical therapy and working in the field, she decided she wanted to be able to add massage therapy to her practice.
