You'll have the chance to capture the skills, principles and techniques to build your craft with students and faculty who are just as passionate about photography as you are. By the time you finish, you’ll be ready to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts or go straight into the field.

The Visual Arts and Humanities department is proud to offer the following Associate of Arts (A.A.) in this area of study. As an additional transfer option, AACC has the unique, Transfer Studies degree. Both degrees will prepare you to transfer to a four-year institution. Whichever path you choose, we strongly encourage you to meet with an advisor to structure your AACC studies to meet your specific transfer goals.
You’ll receive professional-level training, building your skills in both digital and black-and-white photography, with the ability to take electives in photojournalism, video, digital design and more. You’ll also take standard general education requirements in English, math and science. You’ll be well-prepared to transfer to a four-year college or university or begin your career.
The following certificate prepares students for employment and feeds into the A.A. program in communication arts technology, if desired.
Focus your studies on acquiring professional-level skills in color and black-and-white photography in this 22-credit program.
If you decide to earn your A.A. degree in photography, you can transfer to complete your four-year degree. We have partnerships and transfer agreements in place with many colleges and universities so you can easily transfer when you're ready. Transfer agreements (or “articulation agreements,” as they’re officially called) are formal arrangements between institutions that allow certain credits to transfer seamlessly from one school to the other. AACC has the following transfer agreements specifically for photography:
In addition to these schools, you can work with a transfer advisor to set up a specific plan to transfer to the four-year school of your choice.
