With the support of industry partners, AACC is excited to offer courses in Construction Estimating and Pre-apprenticeship Carpentry.

Pre-apprenticeship Carpentry

Carpentry is a versatile career for those with a passion for project management and using a hands-on approach. A carpenter repairs, constructs and installs building frameworks and structures made from wood and other materials. This pre-apprenticeship program is designed for you to gain on-the-job experience with classroom lab instruction.

Interested students must attend an information session. Find and register for an upcoming information session.

  • CIT-301 Pre-apprenticeship General Carpentry Training Part A
  • CIT-302 Pre-apprenticeship General Carpentry Training Part B
  • NRN-332 Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED

Total Hours: 208

Note: You must register for all courses to enter the program. Sections are offered each fall, winter and summer.

What will it cost?

The program costs $3,305 for Anne Arundel County residents, including tuition and fees.

What are the requirements?

To enroll, students must:

  • Attend an upcoming information session.
  • Have a high school or GED® diploma
  • Have a valid driver's license and transportation
  • Have basic computer skills and daily access to a laptop, desktop or tablet with internet, webcam and audio capabilities

Construction Estimating

AACC partners with Construction Experts Inc. to offer short-term, affordable trainings for experienced and prospective construction professionals. Earn an AACC noncredit certificate for completing the five-course Construction Estimating program:

  • OCA-507 Introduction to Construction Estimating 
  • OCA-509 Construction Blueprint Reading 
  • OCA-510 Estimating and Bidding 1
    Prerequisite courses: OCA-507 and OCA-509 
  • OCA-511 Estimating and Bidding 2
    Prerequisite courses: OCA-507 and OCA-509
  • OCA-512 Construction Materials and Processes

Additional Courses and Preparation: Essential Construction Math
  •  OCA-508 Essential Construction Math - Highly recommended if limited experience

 The program costs $2,920 for Anne Arundel County residents, including tuition and fees, with scholarships available for eligible students.

What are the requirements?

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Microsoft Excel software skills
  • Possess a high school or GED® diploma
  • Experience in the construction industry is recommended to be successful in the training, but not required.
