Dr. Tanya Millner Appointed as Interim President of Anne Arundel Community College

Tanya Millner, Ed.D., joined AACC as provost and vice president of Learning in August 2021. She previously served the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system as associate vice president of Teaching and Learning, and also was a tenured English professor. More than 28 years of employment in higher education has taken her to CSCU, Manchester Community College, Northeastern University, Park University, Northern Virginia Community College, Strayer University and Capitol College. In that time, Millner dedicated her attention to the development and support of students, faculty, staff and administrators.

As provost and vice president of Learning at AACC, Millner provided leadership for our five schools of study: Business and Law, Continuing Education, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts and Science, Technology and Education. She was also responsible for learning outcomes assessment and program reviews, instructional and curricular planning, faculty hiring, promotion and tenure, and budget management.

Millner earned a doctorate in higher education administration from The George Washington University, a Master of Arts in English, writing and linguistics from Northeastern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in women’s studies from Georgetown University. Her academic research includes the working conditions, job satisfaction and social network of part-time faculty at community colleges, and redesigning developmental English.

She has completed the University of South Florida Muma College of Business’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace certificate program. In addition to being an educator, Millner has volunteered on several boards and is state board chair-elect of the American Council on Education Women's Network of Conn.

The Anne Arundel Community College Board of Trustees unanimously voted to appoint Dr. Tanya Millner as the college’s interim president effective July 1, 2026, following Dr. Dawn Lindsay’s retirement June 30.

“I am honored to serve AACC during this important time as we build upon the solid foundation provided by Dr. Lindsay,” Millner said. “This is a time of significant changes at the college, but each change is part of a broader effort to strengthen the institution to deliver exceptional learning experiences for everyone at AACC. I am committed to supporting our students, employees and community as we move forward together.”

AACC continues moving forward with a national search for its next president as we look ahead to the college’s next chapter. Learn more about the presidential search.
