Student in a dental hygiene clinical with another student.

AACC's Dental Hygiene Clinic provides preventive oral health services to students, faculty, staff and community members as part of the Dental Hygiene degree program. All care is delivered by dental hygiene students under the supervision of licensed dental hygiene and dental faculty.

The clinic’s primary purpose is educational, enabling students to develop clinical competence while serving the community. Because each appointment includes instruction, faculty feedback and detailed evaluation, appointments are longer than those in private practice. Some patients may require three or four visits to complete care, depending on treatment complexity and student experience.

Services include comprehensive oral assessments, dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants and radiographs (X-ray). Patients of all ages are accepted.

What to Expect

  • Appointments typically last three to four hours due to student instruction and faculty supervision.
  • Some treatments require multiple visits (one to four appointments) for complete and thorough care.
  • All patients receive a comprehensive examination and radiographs before services are determined by supervising faculty.

First Visit Experience

We want to make sure you have everything you need before your first appointment with us! Here's some information about what your first visit will be like.

Patients may visit the clinic in person to drop off all required documents during clinic hours. Arrangements can be made outside of clinic hours by emailing the clinic.

If you would prefer to communicate via email (dentalhygieneclinic@aacc.edu), you must sign the Communication Consent Form which is included in the new patient packet. This form confirms you understand and agree to the communication guidelines.

Allow up to 10 business days for us to review and process your paperwork. We will contact you if additional medical information is needed, or a student will reach out to schedule an appointment based on your preferred day and time.

  • Bring all completed registration and health history forms.
  • Bring a valid photo ID.
  • Identify the parking space number your vehicle is parked in.
  • Present your ID at the front desk.
  • Provide the make, model and color of your vehicle.
  • Provide the parking space number your vehicle is parked in.
  • A student coordinator will escort you to the treatment area once the paperwork is reviewed and completed.

Your appointment will be thorough because this is a teaching clinic supervised by licensed dentists.

A dental hygiene student will:

  • Review your medical and dental history.
  • Take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse and breathing).
  • Examine your mouth and surrounding tissues.
  • Take X-rays if prescribed by the dentist.
  • Evaluate your gums for signs of gum disease.

Afterward, the dentist will complete a comprehensive oral exam.

Once all information is collected:

  • We will explain your oral health findings.
  • A personalized treatment plan will be discussed.
  • You will receive the cost of the initial assessment.
